Once
In a candy corn-induced sugar mania On the eve of Halloween Sometime in the late nineties I asked you to lie on the roof with me And you agreed And you didn’t seem to mind when I brushed my hand against yours And so I thought it appropriate to scoot closer On the roof And say I was cold Though I wasn’t I was sweating Because of the closeness And Mostly The candy corn And we both jumped When we heard kids below us Begging for candy And I yelled From the roof That there was no candy And That there was no hope left in the world And you slapped me The way you used to do When I said things like There is no hope left in the world And you said I ate too much candy And I said you were beautiful And you said to stop it And I said you shouldn’t lie on the roof with people if you can’t take their flirtatious comments seriously And you said good point And I asked if you wanted to make out And you said only if we could do it wearing candy lips And I took them from my pocket and placed them on your face |
